Communion to the Homebound as of December 22, 2021

As of December 22, 2021

Communion calls may proceed normally, though it may be necessary or wise to retrain the ministers of Holy Communion in how to be effective and respectful of people’s concerns in this ministry. We strongly recommend that masks should be worn, at least by the Eucharistic Minister, during the whole visit, and visits should be brief.  The minister should disinfect his or her hands before giving communion.

Nursing home visits and Masses may proceed, although it remains necessary to be completely respectful of the protocols of the facility being visited, or hosting the Mass. All hospital and nursing home safety protocols should be followed.

Parishes should be mindful about which Eucharistic Ministers are able to perform this ministry, particularly if the minister has any sort of compromised health situation.
